Paul Twyford
Chairman
Apart from being Chair of the hall committee, Paul likes to go cycling, climbing, fell walking and cracking cryptic crosswords (though not all at the same time!). He also enjoys a good pint of real ale… and if you see him at the village hall bar is not averse to being treated to one! Until his retirement, Paul practised as a solicitor and for several years taught A-level law.
Mark Stevens
Secretary
When he’s not volunteering at the hall Mark can be seen teaching and practicing his pastime which is karate. He also enjoys watching speedway and fell walking. By day Mark is a Parts Supervisor in a car dealership and also has experience in the hospitality sector.
Roger Troughton
Treasurer
A resident of Lamplugh since 2005, Roger has lived within a few miles of the village all his life. Since retiring, he and wife Pamela have enjoyed walking the fells with their dog Nigel, occasional foreign holidays and, in particular, spending time with their grandchildren. He can also be seen, from time to time, failing to catch fish at Cogra Moss. Roger is a Chartered Accountant and for many years was a partner in a professional practice in West Cumbria.
Joyce Reed
Committee Member
A member of Lamplugh WI, Joyce joined the village hall committee when our old hall was signed over to the village, being the representative for the Asby area. Joyce has a strong belief in community and enjoys gardening, dancing, cycling and walking, though no longer on the high fells.
Ian Shepherdson
Committee Member
Michael Watts
Committee Member
Michael joined the Village Hall Committee in 2021 following on from being Parish council representative. He is a retired engineer who moved to West Cumbria in 2009. He is a regular member of the local church in Lamplugh. He believes being part of the Community is a most important activity in our lives.
Claire Shaw
Vice Chair
Pauline Benn-Cross
Committee Member
Pauline has been a member of the ‘Lamplugh WI’ for many years, following in the footsteps of her grandmother ‘Elizabeth Benn’ formally of Cross Gates, who was one of the original Lamplugh WI’s founding members. Pauline enjoys reading, theatre and flower duty at St Michael’s Church Lamplugh. However, just helping and supporting the local community to the best of her abilities, is what she enjoys most.
